Crown Princess Victoria’s royal tours → India, 2008

Victoria took in many of India’s major cities during her first tour of the country. In a continuation of her diplomatic duties, the Crown Princess met with India’s Vice President and opened the Stock Exchange. She celebrated links between Sweden and India by visiting a school which adopts both Swedish and Indian teaching practices, as well as marking the Sweden-India Nobel Memorial Week. Of course, the Crown Princess found time in her busy schedule to enjoy Indian culture. She dressed in traditional clothing, met Oscar nominated Indian actor Aamir Khan, and visited the Taj Mahal. The bottom middle image depicts Victoria holding a photograph of her parents during their visit to the monument in 1993.

Prince Carl Philip is currently on a multinational maritime exercise in the Northern Coasts until the 11 of September. The exercise is being held in Finland; the Prince is part of the team that monitors, manages, coordinates and prioritizes activities for approximately 30 subordinate vessels.

Over 13 other countries are part of this exercise; there are 55 ships and 2,800 people. The exercise takes place in the Gulf of Bothnia, northern Baltic Sea and Gulf of Finland. Its goal is to be able to operate in narrow and shallow waters with large groups of vessels where one must pay close attention to civilian shipping in the area; and is part of EU and NATO initiative.
